Master Copy 2

I love the work of Giovanni Battista Salvi Sassoferrato! I just realized. I do not know anything about him yet. Art history mostly talks about groundbreaking artists. But sometimes my favorite artists did not do anything revolutionary. I like how this particular artist has high contrasting values while yet being crisp and fluttery.

This drawing took me many hours but I enjoyed it. I like master copies because all you have to do is put down what you see. It is all there for you. No more decisions or research or enterpretation of three dimensional space onto paper. I did however, have a hard time with the third grade multiplication of fractions involved with enlarging the picture from my iPhone screen to my paper. I literally had a ruler up to my screen.

My copy done in graphite.
